Cogent Prepares UNT Alumni for Career Choices

On Monday, October 8th, at 4:30pm, CDT, Cogent Company Founder and Managing Partner Marc Hoppers will participate with leading University of North Texas alumni on a panel discussion of how students of the Linguistics and Technical Communication department might market themselves to employers in the region. Panelists include the following UNT Linguistics & Technical Communication alumni:

  • Dr. Brant Dranger. VP Service Delivery. Sabre Hospitality Solutions
  • Neil Cobb. Executive Director. AT&T Knowledge and Proposal Management Center
  • Marc Hoppers. Founder & Managing Partner. Cogent Company
  • Meredith Mathews Livingston. Enterprise Group Technical Documentation Manager. Hewlett-Packard Company
  • Karen Yates. Owner. Vireo Accent Reduction

Dr. Brenda Sims, Professor and Chairperson–Linguistics and Technical Communication, said that this panel discussion is positioned to “prepare for what faces them after graduation. So often, we just expect our students to own this process of finding a job and making their way through their career choices.” Marc Hoppers expanded on Sims thoughts, “Liberal arts students are often left behind in the career center and job fair actvities, and yet they often have the best skills to succeed in the new economy.”
